Hello! Welcome to Mrs. Hostetler's Gifted Support Classroom! My name is Kim Hostetler and I am thrilled to be teaching the gifted students here at Forest Hills Elementary! Each day brings new skills and concepts to be learned, unique challenges to be met, and a lot of fun to be had while exploring the many aspects of math, language arts, and STEM.
The focus of the gifted program is to provide a learning environment which encourages personal growth, initiative, responsibility, research, problem-solving, leadership, and creativity so that each student can reach his or her fullest potential. In doing so, we focus on the student's abilities, interests, talents, and individual needs.
The gifted program also presents a variety of opportunities for students: hands-on enrichment activities, research projects, interaction with intellectual peers, acceleration programs when deemed necessary, critical thinking investigations, distance learning, the use of iPads, laptops, and interactive technology, Reading Counts, cross-curricular projects, STEM challenges, Odyssey of the Mind activities, etc.
