School nursing, a specialized practice of public health nursing, protects and promotes student health, facilitates normal development, and advances academic success. School nurses, grounded in ethical and evidence-based practice, are the leaders that bridge health care and education, provide care coordination, advocate for quality student-centered care, and collaborate to design systems that allow individuals and communities to develop their full potentials. I have been at Forest Hills Elementary for over ten years. Previously I worked at Lee Hospital in the medical-surgical, telemetry, orthopedics, and pediatric departments. Before coming to Forest Hills I also worked as a school nurse in other local school districts. I am a graduate of Portage Area High School, received my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, school nurse certification from the University of Pittsburgh, and have completed my Master's of Nursing, education track, from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.I am a member of the Wellness Committee, Student Assistance Program (SAP) and Student Support Services (SSS) teams. I also belong to the Cambria County School Nurses' Association, Pennsylvania Association of School Nurses and Practitioners (PASNAP), and National Association of School Nurses (NASN).I look forward to another exciting school year!
