Comprehensive Planning Overview
During the 2023-2024 academic year, the Forest Hills School District is actively engaged in formulating a strategic plan, which will also guide the development of its mandatory comprehensive plan. This endeavor is an opportunity for introspection, teamwork, and creative thinking. Incorporating perspectives from diverse members of the community is essential for crafting a vision that truly reflects the collective aspirations and values for our school district.
In compliance with the Pennsylvania Department of Education, all public school districts in Pennsylvania, including ours, are required to submit a Comprehensive Plan every three years. This plan adheres to a uniform framework emphasizing continual progress and comprises six key components: Profile, Core Foundations, Assurances, Needs Assessment, Action Planning, and Plan Submission. As the Forest Hills School District embarks on its strategic planning, it simultaneously addresses the requirements of the Comprehensive Plan.
The composition of the teams involved in the Strategic/Comprehensive Plan process was diverse, involving various stakeholders from our school community. These teams were guided by nine characteristics commonly associated with high-performing educational institutions. These include a Clear and Shared Focus, High Standards and Expectations, Effective Leadership, High Levels of Collaboration and Communication, Alignment of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment with Standards, Regular Monitoring of Teaching and Learning, Targeted Professional Development, a Supportive Learning Environment, and Strong Community and Parent Involvement. The Forest Hills School District is dedicated to establishing a Strategic and Comprehensive Plan that will act as a blueprint for our District’s educational and operational objectives for the coming decade. Now is the ideal moment to steer our collective efforts towards shaping the future.
