Highlights of the March 12, 2014 Board Meeting

 

 

Administration:

 

 

Approved the expulsion of a middle school student as recommended by the administration.

 

 

Denied the use of a High School student’s yearbook picture.

 

 

Approved the hiring of a construction manager, PJ Dick, for the pre -construction phase and the construction phase of the Junior/Senior High School project according to the RFP submitted by the firm.

 

 

Approved the Appalachia Intermediate Unit 8 - 2014-2015 General Fund Operating Budget.

 

 

Approved the Election of Board of Directors for Appalachia Intermediate Unit 8.

 

 

Approved the Greater Johnstown Career & Technology Center’s resolution regarding adoption of the 2014-2015 tentatively adopted General Fund Secondary Budget.

 

 

Approved Board Policy Revisions – 2nd Reading with modifications.

 

 

Approved request from teachers Mrs. Anne Potter and Mrs. Cassandra Layman regarding a before and after school speech tutoring program.

 

 

Approved Security Benefit – Flexible Spending Accounts.

 

 

Approved modifications to the 2014-2015 school year calendar.

 

 

Approved graduation times and dates for 2013/2014 school year.

 

 

Approved Idlewild School Picnic – Saturday, May 24, 2014.

 

 

Approved authorizing the finance team to proceed with refunding the 2009 bond issue.

 

 

 

Personnel:

 

 

Approved FMLA request for custodian Ms. Deborah Gage.

 

 

Approved the rehiring of teacher Mr. Brian Madison.

 

 

Accepted the resignation of custodian Mrs. Joyce Johnson effective April 30, 2014.

 

 

Approved the recommendation for JH Girls’ Track Head Coach – Ms. Emma Bard.

 

 

Approved the recommendation for JH Girls’ Track Assistant Coach – Ms. Sarah Strayer.

 

 

Approved the recommendation for Varsity Girls’ Soccer Head Coach – Ms. Lari McNerney.

 

 

Accepted the resignation of JH Boys’ Soccer Coach – Mr. John Saksa.

 

 

 

All requests for conferences, field trips and use of school facilities

 

 

presented to the Board were approved.
